Injured Pup!

Yesterday was such a nice day...until It took a downward turn! The weather was really nice, so we decided to take Beau to go check out this place on the lake where I had been told we could feed the ducks. We had some lunch at this little burger joint on the lake and then fed our left over French fries to all the ducks. Ducks are so cute, sea gulls not so much, haha!

We went on and did our grocery shopping and came on home. We let the dogs out in the backyard to go potty and we were unloading the groceries from the truck. Beau had fallen asleep on the way home, so I was taking him upstairs to put him in bed. While I was upstairs, I heard the dogs barking and then it turned into what sounded like fighting, then into the hurt cry. I ran downstairs and hollered for Kolby, but he was not there. I opened the door to see IDK sitting there with her leg bent back behind her just dragging behind!! I just knew it was broken! By now, Kolby came from upstairs where he had been changing his clothes to help me carry her inside. She wasn't putting any weight on it and was just dragging it around behind her still. So we gave her a few minutes to see if she was just scared or something (wishful thinking, I guess) and then off I went to take her to the vet.

After about an hour, x-rays, and about $300, they couldn't find anything broken or displaced. So the best he could guess was she either pulled or strained something in her knee/hip. Sent her home on pain meds. She is so sad and pitiful :-( Today she is bearing some weight on her leg, so hopefully with time it will get better. Not my idea of a fun day at all!!!

Perfect Sunday

Today such a fabulous day! We had a big jolt of motivation today for some reason, lol! We have had a long project list for a while now of things we wanted to get done around the house. And today we finally got a couple of them checked off! We got our laundry room and master bathroom closet cleaned out and organized! I wish I had taken before and after pics to show, it looks sooo good now. We got the house all cleaned up too! We are gonna try to attack some more little projects tomorrow.

We also had some awesome weather today! So we took advantage of it and went to the park and played a little basketball while Beau rode his little four-wheeler around the basketball court. Once I had gotten my but kicked in a couple games of HORSE, we took Beau over to the playground for a while to burn off some more energy. That boy is a climber!! He also loves to swing now!!

I've been working with Beau on animal sounds, and we still don't do any of them...but soon hopefully! He can point to your nose when you ask where it is, but won't point to his own, lol! He knows where his belly is, but only shows you when he wants to! He lives to chatter, but still only says mama and dada, no other for sure words yet. He is a very smart kiddo, so I know he will catch on and take off on it all.

Weekend in Concan

This past weekend we went to the Gilleland Christmas Gathering. This year all of the family met up in Concan at Kolby's cousin's rental home. We had about 40 people under one roof, so to say that it was craziness would be an understatement. We had a blast, but it was constant baby chasing and full out exhaustion! haha! We had a nice drive down to Utopia, hung out with Nana for the afternoon, dropped of the poochies with Nana, and headed on over to Concan. We were about a mile from the turnoff to the house when we had a blowout!!! I'm so thankful for my manly man husband, he got the tire all changed and got us back on the road!

We stopped through Utopia and spent the afternoon with Nana and Pop. It was really warm, so we ran around nakey! lol

The home wasn't exactly baby proof, no cabinet locks, giant back porch over looking a pool, and lots of open doors to the outside world :-)! Each family was in charge of a meal. Ours was lunch on Saturday, and we prepared a spread of hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie tray. Yummy, and we got to take home the leftovers. I also brought a batch of strawberry cake balls that were a major hit! Gotta love some cake balls!

The time there was short, but fun. The drive home was the complete opposite!!! It seemed like it was sooo far home and our booties were dead! Always good to be home though, right?!

Christmas Eve and Day

Grammy came to spend Christmas weekend with us this year! And Daddy didn't have to work this year, woohoo!! Saturday night Beau was so wound up, he was cracking us all up so bad!!! He was on a rampage running up and down the couch like a mad man. We decided to start the tradition with Beau to let him open one present on Christmas Eve, and it will always be a new set of pajamas to wear for Christmas morning!! This year his new PJs were sooo cute! They were little sports balls! Kolby got me and his mom matching Forever Lazy's.

This picture just completely cracks me up!!

Christmas morning we got up early and Grammy made us all some yummy french toast!! That was Kolby's request to his Mommy for Christmas morning breakfast, lol! Before breakfast was ready, Beau discovered all of his presents from Santa under the tree. His presents from Santa were a little Four wheeler, a play tent, and a lion pillow pet. It was soooo cute, he ran over to the Four wheeler and hopped right up on it and started rockin back and forth trying to make it go! His friends from play group have a four wheeler, so he has had a little experience with one before. We had to show him how to push the button to make it go, but needless to say, it didn't take him long at all to figure out how he was supposed to do it! Such a smart little man! Makes his Mommy proud!

The rest of Christmas day was spent lounging around and playing with all of our new toys! Overall a very successful day! I just love spending these moments with my men and making the wonderful memories!

This Christmas we stayed at the casa for the whole break. We were officially lazy for the majority of it too! I did some baking, butter cookies with pretty icing decor and everything, cake balls, and brownie bars. YUMMY!! Kolby's mom came up to spend the Christmas weekend with us. She got here Friday morning and we just stayed at the house for the day. Kolby had to go into work for a little while on Friday. That night we went to the Gaylord Texan hotel to the ICE exhibit! The line was horrible, which made it very hard to entertain oor Beau Beau, but the ICE exhibit itself was amazing! So cool!

Oh Christmas tree!!

We have taken the plunge!!! We got rid of our fake Christmas tree in our garage sale back in April, so this Christmas we are crossing over into the world of real trees! Kolby had the day off today unexpectedly so we took advantage of it and took Beau Beau on down to the Christmas tree farm to pick out our very first REAL Christmas tree! Let's just say they were more expensive than we were thinking they would be...We walked all over that place, Beau had a blast running all over the place and ~~eating~~ playing in the dirt and searching for rocks. My son is definitely all boy! We finally found a tree that would fit in our house and in our budget!

We got it all set up in the stand tonight, but we are going to get to the decorating it tomorrow!!! I'll be sure to post pictures of it once we get it all dolled up!

THE PARTY!!!!

I must start out by saying that I believe that the party was indeed a hit! We had so many family members and friends there to celebrate the special day with us. I felt so blessed! I had been working for weeks on all of the homemade decorations I wanted to do for the party. The theme for the party was Super Mario. I handmade the invitations, and I was so thrilled with how they turned out! All of my decorations were so cute and I was so excited by how it all looked in the end!

The day before the party was a busy, full day for this mama! My mom and SIL came in a day early to help me finish up all the last minute details and baking that needed to be done. A big THANK YOU goes out to them for the help! We baked and iced 27 cupcakes, Beau's smash cake, dipped alot of candy pretzels, made candy star lollipops, and made some mushroom cake pops! Lots of sweets at this party! I didn't go to bed that night until 2AM! But we got it all done, and that's what counts!

Saturday morning we were working on the last minute details while Kolby took Beau and all of his family out to eat breakfast and let the kiddos go run around Cabellas and look at all the animals. While my mom and SIL finished up all of the spread at the house, I ran to the store to get the last few things we ~~forgot~~ needed. Let me interject here: for about the past week we have had absolutely gorgeous weather, Saturday, not so much...there was a massive cold front that had blown in, it rained Friday night and Saturday was so frigidly cold and windy, it was almost unbearable. Anyways, so I ran to the grocery store to get the goodies and the balloons. It was such a nightmare trying to get those balloons to/in my car with the wind whipping them all around. I just knew they were going to carry me away any minute. I made it back to the house in time to get dressed and ready for the party to start...but just barely! haha Poor little Beau was still napping and we had to wake him up to get him dressed, so needless to say, he was a little grouchy there at the beginning.

We had ordered a bounce house for the party for all the kiddos, well, by about 20 min before the party started they hadn't shown. We called them, and guess what?!?!?! WE WEREN'T EVEN ON THEIR LIST!!!! I was so beyond mad! I had made the reservation a week ago. The man said they could get someone out there quickly, but they still showed up about an hour late, and they made us still pay full price. I don't think we will be doing that again....I let it go because I didn't want it to ruin the party, but I was soooo angry!

And so the party began! Kolby manned the grill to cook the burgers and hot dogs while I tried to entertain the mass of people who were inside...which was everyone since it was so cold! We did chips and dip for appetizers. The menu was simple, burgers and hotdogs, chips, and all the sweet treats. We had goody bags fore the kids to take home.

Poor Bubba! Right after this picture was taken, he burned his poor little finger on his candle!! After that happened, he didn't want anything to do with his cake. We basically had to force feed him his first little bit so he could realize that it was really yummy!

Beau got so many amazing presents! We are considering skipping Christmas gifts all together because it already looks like Christmas in our living room from all of Beau's new toys! He got several different Tonka Chuck trucks, vtech toys, clothes, and books. Some of them he's not too sure about just yet, but I'm sure it won't take him long to catch on to them. Once the day had ended, we were all exhausted, but the party was a wonderful success!! Now we have another year to start planning the next party! LOL

Thanksgiving 2011

As we do almost every year, we travelled to Abilene for Thanksgiving this year. This year there were lots of little ones running around, which helped us with Beau, as he would just chase after them trying to keep up!!

We got to Abilene late Wednesday night, and Beau slept the majority of the time in the car. That being said, he had had a nice 3 hour nap and was ready to play when we go there (at 9:30pm). We hadn't been there for 15 min when Beau was running and fell and hit his face on the fireplace hearth! It could have been way worse, but it did give him a nice bump and scrape! Boys!

Trip Down South~Part 2

Day 3:

We started our day off with a dip in the "hot" a.k.a luke warm tub. Beau thought it was pretty fun! This was our only way to go swimming as the river was all dried up...

I love my little family!

After swimming, we all needed a nap!

While we were napping someone helped herself to the kiddie pool...then she really tried her hardest to give us the little puppy dog eyes so she wouldn't be in trouble for getting mud in the kiddie pool! haha, she cracks me up, how could we be mad at that little face?!

That night, we had a little get together of friends over to the house for my b-day! Here I am opening my brand new sewing machine!!!

And a new James Avery charm with Beau's name on it!

Day 4:

Beau got to ride Pop's big red tractor!!

Spending the day enjoying the outdoors at Fisher Camp for the family reunion! This was Beau's first time to go, so he was quite a hit getting to meet alot of family for the first time! (Last year we were announcing our pregnancy!)

Day 5:

We went to church and dinner on the grounds at Fisher Camp for day 2 of the family reunion.

We had such a blast on our trip down south!!! I'm going to break it down into a couple of posts because I have a lot of pictures that I want to put up!!

After the long drive, we finally made it Nana and Pop's house! Nana was happy to read Beau a bedtime story, and Beau, as usual, wasn't wanting to sit still long enough to listen, lol!

Day 2: We woke up early to roll Nana out of bed and help her make breakfast. Beau was being silly and making lots of funny faces drinking from his sippy cup!

We went to Kerrville to spend the day, and we ate at some sea food place. Beau and Daddy took a break long enough to strike a pose for Mommy.

If you know my husband, you know he is a Dallas Mavericks fan! Also, he a major anti-spurs fan! Being that I grew up on the Spur's, I am a Spur's fan until they are no longer in the playoff's and then I become a mav's fan by default...haha! So Nana got Beau a new outfit...

Needless to say, Daddy said that it was a stinky outfit and Beau needed to take it off immediately!! Judging by the look on Beau's face, I think he might turn out to be a Spur's fan after all!

We wrapped up our evening having some fun playing with Aunt Ashley!

Yesterday was just a long, hard day for poor Beau Beau. In addition to his Dr. appt, he had another little adventure. I guess it was bound to happen eventually, but so far we had gladly avoided it! Last night Beau had a major blow out diaper!! I'm talking everywhere!!! It was all we could do to get him stripped down without further spreading the mess! We decided the easiest way to fix this mess was a spray off in the sink!

Now, I know I'm his Mommy, but is that not the cutest little booty you have ever seen?!?! And you can see just how bad his poor little ecsema problem has gotten lately. :-(

6 month well check

Beau had his 6 month well check today, and everything went great of course! He checked out just great!! BUT...he was an absolute crazy man throughout the entire appointment, lol!!!! He was scooting around all over the table, and it's amazing that he didn't fall off! He was olling everywhere, and he thought that the paper on the exam table was absolutely the greatest thing ever.

Our Dr. said that he thinks Beau will be walking by 9 months, so we will see! I don't think this mama is ready for her baby to start walking!! Poor Beau Beau had to have 4 shots this visit, but as always, he was a trooper and only cried for a second. Now to start enjoying the summer, and we will be back at 9 months!!

Today Beau turned 6 months old! I'm so blown away that time has gone sooo fast. It seems like I was just there at the hospital bringing him home with us, but then it also seems like he's been with us forever. I can't imagine/remember life without my little man. He is turning into the most beautiful baby. It just gets better everyday, and I absolutely love being his Mommy. there have been times where I am just exhausted and need a break, but I wouldn't trade being a stay-at-home Mommy for anything! He is so interested in everything around him, and he's so observatory! He is our love, our life, and our everything! Happy 1st Half Birthday baby boy! We love you!

On May 20th, you started making the "ma" noise. You say it all the time, and you do it over and over, "mamama". I claim that you're saying mama, but daddy says no. He is now really really trying to get you to say dada.
You are starting to respond to your name and look at us when we call you.
You are about to out grow your vibrating lamb seat, you can wiggle your way down and almost out of it.
You are still the best sleeper! You sleep in your carseat pretty much anytime we put you in it (which also makes you the best traveler) and you sleep about 10-12 hours straight at night!
You have started to roll and twist in your sleep. It freaks me out,I'm scared you're gonna get your little nose in the sheets or in the bumper! You sleep on your belly sometimes at night too.
You are so close to sitting up on your own! I still won't leave you alone to sit because you will just fall over when you get tired of sitting. But I think you'll have it down in the next week or two.

Our last day in Utopia, we decided to load up the kiddos and go to the zoo!!! This was Beau's first time to the zoo! Let's just say that he was soooo excited, lol!! Or maybe that was me!

While we were down there for a week, Beau started to move around in his sleep. At home he never moves! He twisted all around in the bed and would stick his arms and legs out between the bars.

He even rolled over in his sleep! Isn't he so adorable?! With his little booty stuck up in the air!!! Let me say too that this whole sleeping on the belly thing totally freaks me out. I keep trying to roll him back over, but he just flips right back over...little turkey!

This past weekend I headed to Utopia for some "partying"! Haha, well really a 60th birthday party and a baby shower! Kolby was supposed to be going to work in Colorado (possibly for up to 2 weeks) so I packed to stay down there for a while. Oh my goodness, my car was so stuffed!! I had Beau and me, both dogs, and all of our stuff for two weeks! Stuffed! Well, long story short, it was a long hard trip to make by myself. I ended up stopping in Austin at Kolby's brothers work office so that he could watch Beau and the dogs so I could use the bathroom. Lol!

And as you would guess it, I said above, Kolby was supposed to go to work for 2 weeks in Colorado. Well, they ended up not sending him at all, so he sat for a week by himself at the house for no reason! We were not very happy about it, he could have come with me if his company could have had their act together! Ugh, oh well, we are used to it!

When I stopped in Austin, Moe thought it was her turn to ride in the carseat!!! That dog cracks me up!

The first party we had to attend was Kolby's aunt's 60th birthday party in Leakey. It was nice to get to see all of the family again! Beau got some good lovin' of course!

Next up was the baby shower! Of course the parties were on the same day at the same time, so we had to share our time between the two, but it all worked out! I went to high school with the mommy-to-be (and the rest of the girls too), so it was nice to see everyone and catch up!

I came home from College Station on Saturday afternoon, only to find out that Kolby was going to have to go back to work bright and early (5AM) on Sunday morning. So we celebrated Mother's Day as a family on Saturday night! It was so nice, I got home and Kolby had the entire house clean, and had gotten me flowers and a present! He also cooked us supper! My Mother's Day present that Kolby and Beau Beau got me was the Mother's Love ring from James Avery, I absolutely LOVE it!!!

Sunday morning, my grandma was in town visiting with my Uncle, so she and I went to church. Of course, once I was all dressed up and so was Beau I realized that I should probably change his diaper before we left. So I did...and Beau decided to pee pee all over the floor, himself, and me!!! Luckily, it didn't get very much on him or me, most of it went on the floor! Oh being a mom, so much fun! Never a dull moment!

Weekend in College Station

This past weekend Beau and I went to College Station to go to Kolby's cousin's birthday party. They had a full house of their family, so I got to stay with my cousin and her precious little boy! This was my first time to get to see Ryland, he is exactly (to the day!) 2 months older than Beau. Beau slept in the pack 'n play, and he did just fabulous!

Friday we just hung around the house as the birthday girl was still at school. Us ladies and babies watched the men put the new trampoline together! We attempted to get a picture of all the kids together, but we all know how hard it is to get three babies to all look and smile at the same time! Below are the best ones that we got.

Saturday morning I just hung out at my cousin's house and let the boys play together. They were quite interested in each other! Beau is so close to sitting up, but he still just doesn't have it figured out yet. Won't be long though!

Another first??

We have crossed another first off of Beau's list this month. Though it is one that you don't mark off happily. Beau has attended his first funeral. He and I went with my grandma to her aunt's funeral. So the funeral was for my great grandmother's sister, she was 99 years old. So, while any funeral is sad, this was truly a celebration of a long happy life. I had never met her, but my grandma asked me to go so she could have at least one of her grandchildren/great grandchildren to show off to all of her cousins. The only person I knew at the funeral was my grandma, but everyone was very welcoming and they all loved on Beau like we had known them forever, haha! Overall, while it funerals are never "fun", I must say that this was a very nice service with even nicer people.

We have had another fun month!! Fun and busy! We have moved to a new house and Beau is loving his new, bigger room (and so is Mommy!)!! Beau has gotten to spend lots of time with family, and some time with friends too! This months photo shoot was quite the fun one, Beau did not want to sit still at all! He has turned into such the wiggle worm!

Let's get some stats!

Wearing size 2 diapers

Weighed 16.2lbs on the home scale and was 26.5in by home measurement (not the most accurate :-))

Can roll both ways now! But has only rolled from back to belly once...

Has started to use his walker, and loves it! Can't really make it go very much yet, but loves to sit up in it.

Beau is a fabulous eater! Both on the breast and eating solids! So far you have had carrots, sweet potatoes, and summer squash.

Beau loves his toys! He can push their buttons and make them make noise.

Beau is still in some kind of funk with sleep. He is a great napper, and he goes down great at night, but we aren't sleeping through the night. He usually has 1-2 wake ups. We are working on it! At about 3 months he was sleeping through the night, then he got his first cold and it totally threw him off, and we have never fully gotten back into a good sleeping routine.

Beau's hands are one of the best and most interesting "toys" that he has! He will stare at them forever. He'll be playing and then he catches a glimpse of his hand and that is it, the other toy is "trash" and his hand gets the full attention.

No teeth yet! Beau has definitely been chewing on anything he can get in his mouth, and he will bite on our fingers if we put them in his mouth, so I think we are at the beginning stages.

Beau is trying to sit up, not doing it by himself yet, but not too much longer now. He tries to sit up in his carseat when I'm trying to strap him in it, and he will strain him little abs so hard trying to sit up. He does the same thing in his lamb seat!

Grumps stopped by to spend the evening with us on his way home from a school trip to Austin. Kolby cooked us some great food, and we just relaxed and did some visiting.

This picture makes Beau look like such a big boy, I think!! It makes me a little sad...my baby is going to be 5 months old tomorrow. He doesn't even look like the same little baby. He's turning into a big boy right before our eyes! It makes me both happy and sad at the same time!

We have broken the seal! We went to our first Ranger's game of the season! Poor little Beau Beau didn't get to go...but he got to spend the evening with his Aunt Pattie! That's only his third time to be with a baby sitter ever, and he did okay. He did have a little meltdown she said. I guess we're going to have to try to get him out more so that he is used to staying with someone who isn't Mommy. We'll work on it...

Well we are starting the next step in our eating adventure! We have officially graduated from rice cereal and we are moving on to vegetables. We are to start with yellow/orange veggies, then greens. We can only introduce a new food once every week, so slowly but surely we will get some food in his belly! LOL ONce we have mastered the veggies, we can move onto fruits. We don't want to create a sweet tooth first thing!

I have also decided that I want to try to make Beau's food at home rather than buying store babay food. So we will see how it goes! It is supposed to be better nutritionally as there are no fillers and no preservatives, and it's supposed to be way cheaper! I'm all about saving money! So today was my first adventure in the baby food making journey. And I must say after a small mishap, it went well. I decided to try carrots first! I was steaming the carrots on the stove, and I was outside with Kolby and Beau enjoying the nice afternoon, and completely forgot about my carrots! I boiled all of my water out of my carrots and burned the whole batch! It stunk sooo bad. Thankfully I only cooked half of my bag of carrots, so I had another batch of carrots for a second attempt! The second try went much better!! They were quite tasty, and I don't even like carrots! They were so sweet.

I mixed some rice cereal and breastmilk in with the carrots, and at first Beau wasn't too sure what to think about them. But by the end of the meal he was sold! I couldn't spoon it fast enough. I think Beau is going to be a good eater!

Easter Egg Huntin'

Due to Kolby's work schedule, we weren't able to (or chose not to) travel anywhere for Easter. Daddy has already missed out on alot of Beau's firsts so we wanted to spend this holiday together as a little family! We were going to celebrate with our friends up here, but they ended up going to Houston to see their family, so we were on our own. Which was fine!! We had Beau's little Easter basket all ready for the Easter bunny. As the pictures below show, Beau did sooo great!! He held his basket the whole time while he was "hunting" his eggs...until the last egg, and then he dropped his basket and all of the eggs spilled out everywhere, LOL!!

This weekend we went to the Crawfish Crawl in Keller. I don't eat crawfish, but Kolby absolutely loves them!! He says that he's going to teach Beau to love them too! While it was a really fun day, it was also a really HOT day too! And of course we all forgot our sunscreen and we all got sunburned! Mother of the Year right here! It was a fun day though, and I'm glad we went. There were a few games to play and there were craft booths to go along with the food, so there was plenty for us to do!

Yesterday we tried rice cereal for the very first time!!!!! What a big milestone!! I can't believe that my baby boy is already starting solid foods! We got the go ahead to start foods at his 4 month appointment, but we decided to wait to start them until we got all moved in and settled and we could feed Beau consistently. So last night we got the food started!

Beau did so good! He really seemed to like the rice cereal! I am still breastfeeding Beau and that is going great, I am also pumping and mixing his food with breastmilk.

Big Announcement: We are moving!!!

So we made the jump and got a bigger house! We absolutely love it! We are ready to get moved in and settled. We are still renting, but the landlords said we can paint, so we will be painting the kitchen, master bedroom, and what will be Beau's room. Kolby's mom, grandma, aunt, and cousin are coming in this weekend to help us with the painting, so we should be able to knock it out! I'll post pictures of the finished products!

On the Road Again...

Well, as soon as we got back from the ski trip, Beau and I hit the road again to go spend some time with my family in Utopia. While 6 more hours on the road wasn't the most fun, I was very happy to be going to visit everyone and see my neice and nephew! While it was a pretty quick trip, I got to spend some good quality time with my family and that is always nice! Plus, Pop got to love on Beau Beau! I'll let the pictures talk for themselves!

We were lucky enough to go on a vacation this spring break!!! This was Beau's first real vacation and his first time to leave the state! We went with Kolby's dad and brothers. We went skiing in Red River, NM and we had a great time. All of the guys went snow boarding and us girls and kids just hung out at the condo and enjoyed shopping around town.

Another month gone by! And Mr. Beau is doing a whole lot of growing! Our photoshoot this month was lots of fun too, as he was suh a wiggle worm, and he's not even really "on the move" yet, I can just imagine me trying to get him to sit still for pictures in a few months! Ha!

The eyes are still baby blue! Still crossing our fingers that they stay that way!
He has started to lose his hair, especially in the front. But it's already starting to come back in, and it's coming back in way lighter!
Still a great eater! He eats about 4-5oz when we give him a bottle. He holds onto my thumb or my shirt while he eats.
Sleeping through the night!! We go to bed at about 10pm and sleep about 10 hrs (sometimes more) and our usual wake up time is between 8-8:30am!
He loves to sit in his highchair, he hasn't gotten mad yet!
Still doing his neck exercises, we have gotten great reports from the therapist, he has gotten to move to appointments once every other week!
He has really started showing an interest in his rattles and playmat toys! He is starting to kick and bat at the dangling objects, I don't know if it is on purpose yet or not though.
Laughs way more at Daddy than at Mommy
Still the best traveler! Pretty much the moment that we get in the car and get moving, he will be out instantly!
He has become so much more vocal, and we think we have gotten a laugh out of him!

This is another one of those posts where I go on and on about how my little man is growing up tooo fast!! But I won't subject yall to total torture, we all know that he is getting to be a big boy rather Mommy likes it or not! We had another first in our household, our first time in the highchair! Since we get to start rice cereal next month, I thought it would be a good idea to get the highchair out and go ahead and get Beau used to it, just in case he didn't like it! Well, that doesn't seem to be an issue...He loves it! It has become my new babysitter! He will sit in his highchair for as long as I need to get whatever I am doing done!! I just put him in it while I'm in the kitchen and he sits there just talking away and looking around. I think he likes the fact that the highchair puts him on a higher level and it gives him now stuff to look at.

Kolby's cousin, Jenna, and I have been good friends pretty much since the first time that we met back when Kolby and I were just dating. She was there the day that I met Kolby. I actually met her before I met Kolby, but I didn't know at that time that she would become such a dear friend! We were so excited to be pregnant at the same time, and her little girl is just 3 months older than Mr. Beau! We were lucky enough to be able to get together with her last week and get our babies together to play!!!

We have been improving our head control in leaps and bounds as of lately! I am one proud Mommy!!! Beau has been tolerating his tummy time so much better nowadays! It's nice too that it gives me some time to put him down and do other things while he plays on his tummy. Here is the picture proof that he is getting sooo strong!

And, in other BIG news, Beau rolled over for the first time!!! I had put him down on his tummy and propped him up on his elbows, and sure enough, he kicked over and rolled to his right side!!!! It was so cute! He just looked at me like "WHOA, what just happened?!" We are still trying to catch it on camera!

Today we had the best Saturday that we have had in a long time! It was so nice to spend the day as a family! This morning we took the girlies to their bulldog play group at the park. We haven't been since I found out I was pregnant, so they were very excited to get to go! They played way too hard and have been wiped out the rest of the day! I forgot to take my camera this morning, but I will be sure to snap some pics next time. Beau was so good on our adventure. I think he liked seeing all of the puppy dogs too! We grabbed some lunch on our way home and went to the house to drop off the poochies and feed Mr. Beau.

Once we had taken a little rest, we headed up to the driving range that is about 2 miles from the house. We haven't played golf since I can't remember when! It is a good thing that we can laugh at ourselves, because we were NOT great! Amazingly I didn't miss the ball though! haha It was a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday. The weather was so nice! It was sunny and about 80 degrees and a light breeze. Aaaannnddd, we learned our lesson because once we got home, I saw that Beau's little face red, and I'm pretty sure that he got a little sunburned :( I will be going to get him a hat of some sort probably tomorrow so that this doesn't happen again!!! I feel sooo bad! Thankfully it isn't seeming to bother him.

Getting some Bumbo lovin'

Well, I finally did it! I hadn't broken out our Bumbo seat yet, as I thought that Beau was still too little for it. Well, I guess that I'm just in denial that my newborn baby is already growing up on me! He's getting sooo big so fast. Kolby and I are constantly in awe of what a big boy he is and how he already looks like a "grown baby"!

This week, Beau and I went to our first ever play group. I found it online, and its a group for babies in my area that were born in 2010 and 2011. I was of course the youngest mother there and Beau was the youngest baby. But it was still fun to get out of the house and meet some other new mommies! Well the woman who was hosting the play date at her house let Beau use her daughter's Bumbo, and he fit just perfectly!! So I came home and dug ours out of the closet so that we could get to using it. Beau really seems to like sitting in it. It lets him sit up with great support and allows him to look all around, which he loves to do! It's also helping him with his neck/head control. He still loses his neck balance from time to time, but he is doing so well.

Oh, and I wanted to update yall on Beau's torticollis. We've been doing our exercises and going to therapy for a few weeks now, and we can already see an improvement! He is still favoring his right side, but he will now willingly turn his head to the left, sometimes even voluntarily! He is also getting greater extension in turning his head to the left. Both of these are improvements and we are to continue what we have been doing. Oh, and yes, he still hates the exercises and screams through the majority of it in protest! Lots of fun for Mommy! I've started to do his exercises while he is sleeping and that's the easiest way for me to do them. If I don't get to them while he's sleeping, I let him watch TV while we do the exercises, it at least keeps him moderately entertained where he won't scream bloody murder and fight with me for the entirety of the exercises.

Snow, Snow, Snow

We've been having the craziest weather! We have had below freezing temperatures since Monday night. So Beau and I have been holed up in the house since then and have been doing our best to stay warm! Kolby had to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and today was the first day that we got to spend together. Today was the first day that it wasn't in the teens and twenties, and so we were able to take Beau out in it!!! I was so excited about this being Beau's first snow!

He was asleep for the first little bit!

2 Months Old...Already

Again, I can't believe that my little boy is annother month older! I am really loving this age! He's starting to talk to us and really giving us the cutest expressions. We are always getting smiles and coo's out of him. Our best talk time is during diaper changes!

Now to his Stats:

Weight: 12lb 4.6oz 75%

Length: 23.8 inches 75%

Head Circumference: 16.8 inches 90% (still!)

We had to get one oral vaccine and two shots. This time he screamed from the shots,and broke Mommy's heart! He slept about 3 hours straight after our appointment, and then after that long nap, he was really fussy. I don't think he felt very good. Thanksfully, it only lasted for the evening, and the next morning he woke up smiling and talking up a storm!

What we've been up to:

Wearing size 1 diapers
Can still wear some of his newborn clothes (mostly bottoms) and all of his 0-3 month clothes
Smiling at us and in response to our silly talking
Can make ooo'ing and ahh'ing noises, and we can kind of carry on little conversations!
Still has the prettiest bright blue eyes
He is a rockstar eater! He eats for about 15-20 min and usually gets drowsy by the end of his meal.
When eating Beau likes to hold onto my finger or grab onto my shirt collar
Laughs more at Daddy than at Mommy (but Dad's goofy like that!)
We are still doing our exercises to work on the torticollis, and Beau absolutely hates the exercises!
We are trying to work on sleeping in our crib for naps, but it's definitely a slow process
Still sleeping in the bassinet next to our bed at night, most nights he sleeps for 3-4 hour stretches

Beau has been getting lots of love lately!!

Last Sunday we had a neighborhood potluck lunch, and Beau's girlfriend was in attendance! Our neighbor's little girl is 4 months and 1 day older than Beau, so me and her mom already have their wedding arranged!! Haha!!

This past weekend my family came to see us. My brother and sister-in-law haven't gotten to meet Beau yet since we haven't made it to Utopia since he was born. So my brother was finally able to get a day off of work, so they came to spend the weekend with us. We had a good time, we took the kids to Cabellas to look at the "fake" animals and to the Dallas World Aquarium to look at the "real" animals! Otherwise, we were pretty lazy and just hung out at the house! Enjoy the pictures!

I've been slacking on the blogging this month...and to be honest, I don't know if I'll ever get any better at it! I have all these ideas in my head that I think I will blog about, and none of them ever get done...story of my life! Can you say "no fun"?

Well, as the title of my post states...this is no fun...Beau officially has his first cold. :( A few days ago, he started having a very dry little cough. He only coughed every once in a while, and at first I couldn't even tell it was a cough. Then the next day it became more frequent and more likea true cough. I watched it for the day, and of course it continued. That night while I was getting Beau into his pajamas, he let out a huge sneeze. I looked up to see that he had sneezed out a whole lot of green snot everywhere. Once we were facing both the cough and the snot, I wanted to go ahead and take Beau to his pediatrician.

So Saturday morning (really early!) we headed up to the pedi to be there for his walk-in hours. When we got there, of course Beau was asleep, so I figured he wouldn't "perform" for the Dr. so he could hear Beau's cough. Thankfully once we got back to the room, Beau woke up and let the Dr. check him out. He listened to his lungs and they were clear, Good! He looked in his ears, clear, Good! He did the poor little tongue depresser to look in his throat and he said that it looked good too. Official diagnosis: a cold in his nose. He said that it can sometimes cause ear infections, but that it looked alright for now. We are now using saline nose drops at every diaper change, sleeping with the humidifier, and he gave us a prescription for a baby version of Nyquil. We don't have to use it if we don't want to, it's just for if it starts making it hard for Beau to sleep, which thankfully hasn't been the case as of yet.

Also, while the Dr. was trying to look in Beau's ears, Beau really faught him to turn his head to the right. I have noticed that he favors turning his head to the left, he can turn it to the right he simply chooses not to. The Dr. made reference to him fighting him to turn to the right so I just went ahead and asked about it. Dr. M felt over Beau's neck and sure enough, he said that Mr. Beau has torticollis...insert sad face here! You can read more about it here. Apparently it's very common, and Dr. M wants us to go see a physical therapist this next week so we can learn some exercises that we will do to correct it. I'm sad about it, but I'm glad that we caught it early and it's totally correctable with exercises.

So mostly we are just being lazy and trying to kick this cough and snotty nose! Kolby's back to work this week/weekend and so it's just Mr. Beau and me at the house all day. Getting some extra loving on my little man. Oh, and we are trying to start putting Beau in his crib for all of his naps, it's going okay, sometimes he does great, and sometimes not...We'll just keep working on it!

What we've been up to...

Here is a nice little post to catch yall up with what's been going on in our life as of lately! I'm not one for much writing (typing!) so I'll give my update through pictures!

We've been dealing with some real winter temps this week and last week, so we've done alot of laying around in our pj's and house shoes!

This last Friday we did something that we haven't done in a LONG time, but we used to do ALL the time...BOWLING!!! It was just as much fun as I remembered it being! Kolby and I used to do it all the time, and when we were well practiced, we were pretty good at it. Well, we were pretty out of practice, but we still had a lot of fun! Kolby beat me all three games that we played, but I definitely got the award for the most improved bowler over the three games. I increased my score by about 20-30 points each time! Beau was such a good boy the whole time, he slept through most of it! We will for sure be doing this again very soon!

Oh yeah, and I cut all my hair off! Here it is now!

~Tummy Time~

We have been practicing our tummy time alot recently. Beau is getting pretty good at holding up his head, and we are working on turning side to side more easily. He tends to favor his right side more, so we are really working on the left! Beau seems to enjoy his tummy time and he is really content to lay on his mat for a good while. But once he's done, he's done, and he wants up right then. He isn't messing around, and he is sure to let Mommy know that!

I took these pictures during tummy time a couple of days ago, isn't he just too cute for words?!?! He looks so grown up and wide eyed!

While my parents were here over New Year's, we had our gift exchange. We were very low key this year with Beau being so little and all. And to tell the truth, it was pretty nice. Not to have to worry about getting enough gifts for everyone, just something little.

My parents came to see us for a couple of days over New Years since my dad had the week off of work. We didn't do too much, but we had a good time! One Month Old!!!!

I know everyone says it...but time is seriously flying! I can't believe that it has been a month since we were at the hospital to have Beau! But it has been a month, and I've just got to wrap my head around the fact that my little man is going to grow up on me. But I must say that I love watching him take everything in, and he's just learning sooo much!

We had our first well check visit with the pediatrician, and it went great. He said that Beau looks great and that we couldn't be doing a better job as new parents. He does have a little bit of cradle cap on his eyebrow area, and he has a slight umbilical cord hernia. Dr. said it is so small that he wouldn't worry about it at all, and that it should fix itself by the time he's 5 years old. Otherwise, Beau is perfect (but that's my description of him :-))

Length: 21 1/2 in 55%

Oh my little Santa Baby!

We had a very low key Christmas this year as Kolby had to work this whole week, and he worked on Christmas day too! I must say though that it was nice to not have to travel anywhere and pack bags and cart Beau around and take him out of his home environment. It was just perfect for Beau's first Christmas, just the three of us and the girlies! Since Kolby was working on Christmas day, Beau and I were just lazy around the house eagerly waiting for Daddy to come home so we could all exchange our gifts! I cooked a nice supper, turkey, corn casserole, and cheddar biscuits. It was so yummy!

Kolby and Beau got me a Flip Camcorder! I will be putting it to good use for sure, taking videos of Mr. Beau! and we already got it set up so that we can send videos to Kolby while he is at work! Beau and I got Kolby a celtic cross to add to his necklace. We waited in line at James Avery for over an hour for that cross, so we hope that he liked it! I also got Kolby the reciprocating saw that he said that he had been wanting. Gotta love those practical gifts! Beau got a book from Grumps that he recorded his voice onto of him reading the book. Grammy gave him a silver Baby's First Christmas ornament. Grandma and Grandpa Sumner gave him a cute little book with sound buttons and a coin set.

Overall such a great time as a little family! Kolby had to work the next day as well and so he was off to bed really early. Hope you all had a great Christmas as well!

3 Weeks Old...Really, already?!

Well, little buddy, you are 3 weeks old! Time is flying already...it needs to slow down! Beau has changed so much already! He's getting to be such a big boy! We are still loving our life with the little man, he just continues to make us laugh and love him that much more.

Kolby has gone back to work now, and my mom has gone home, so now it's just Beau and me at the house all day together. I love our days together! We have been out and about a little bit. We went up to my work this week to drop off some paperwork for insurance, and Beau got to meet all my work friends who have been waiting his arrival! So that was fun! Of course I forgot to get any pictures... We also went and got the rest of our Christmas shopping done! Woohoo! Beau is such a good traveller and he did so good at all of the stores too! I had to wait in line for over an hour at one store (crazy, I know!) and he was so good, he slept the entire time!

So lets see...a little bit about Mr. Beau and his habits as of now!

He eats about every 2-3 hours during the day, and has a dirty diaper after just about every feeding!
He sleeps for 4-5 hour stretches at night, his last feeding is sometime from 10-midnight, and then I let him sleep until he wakes himself, usually between 3-4am, we feed and do diaper change, then he sleeps until he wakes himelf in the morning, ususally 7-8am! Mommy sure doesn't complain about this schedule!
He is a great eater! He takes about 10-15 min on the first breast and then we do diaper change, come back and have the second breast for dessert, usually about another 10 min! LOL
Daddy can make him go to sleep better than anyone by laying him on his chest with him...(creating bad habits! haha)
Beau still sleeps alot during the day, we have been trying to do naps in the crib, sometimes it works well, other times, not so much.
He loves to make faces! We've caught a few of them on camera, but most he just makes for our viewing pleasure! We are always laughing at his super cute faces!
He is so good in the car! We haven't had a single melt down while travelling, most of the time he sleeps in his carseat!
