A day at the park

We had such a great day at the park! We went to the first park to play at the playground while Daddy threw a couple of holes of disc golf. He ended up losing one of his discs in the creek and had to go in swimming for it. After a freezing dip in the creek he was able to find his plus another one that someone else had lost. SCORE!! Those things aren't cheap, they run about $15 a pop. So we had fun watching him freeze his booty off! Once we were all played out, we drove over to another park and fed the duckies :-) Beau loves the ducks! We usually feed them from the bridge while they are in the water below, but today they were in a different spot. So we fed them on the shore, and let's just say that they are super friendly ducks! The white one in my picture was all up close and trying to eat the bread right out of our hands! Beau thought it was absolutely hilarious!

Show & Tell Link Up~ Shopping

I'm a day late, but who's counting!  Today I'm linking up with Becky for her Show & Tell series and today's shopping, so here goes!!

1. Tell us your favorite stores to shop at.
My shopping these days is very limited with us being on one income.  Plus, I still have clothes that I wore in high school 7 years ago (sad I know!).  But my main goal of shopping is if it's on sale/cheap, I generally like it better!  With that being said, I like to shop at Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or Target.

2. What are your "signature pieces" to wear.. your go-to outfits?
I am not a very "stylish" person to begin with.  In my head I really want to be one, like when I see outfits on Pinterest, I just love them, but then can't ever find anything similar to them when I'm out shopping.  So, I basically stick to jeans and a T-shirt or a cute top.  If I had to pick signature pieces that I wear, I would say, pearl earrings and my mother's love ring from James Avery Jewelers.  I always have it on!

3. Show us your style through pictures {of you or pinterest finds}.
You can check out my dream style that I wish I had HERE!!!!

4. Show us your favorite celebrity style icons.

5. If you had to spend money on clothes or home items, which would you choose?

If I had an endless supply of money, I would hire a personal stylist/shopper and spend my money on clothes.  But since I don't, I mostly spend my money on home goods.

6. Show us your favorite accessories.

7. Tell us in one sentence your philosophy behind shopping. {What makes you buy an item}
Basically, if it is on sale or it is cheap I am more willing to buy it.  I just can't make myself spend the money to get one shirt when I could buy 5 shirts for that same money.

This isn't how you walk?

With Kolby's work still not going full force, we have been doing alot to get us out of the house as we are starting to have bouts of cabin fever. One of the things we do almost daily is go for walks. Beau loves to be pushed in the stroller and just observe everything around him. It's like he thinks he is the king and we are his servants and it's our job to push him! Well a few days ago, he decided he was too cool to ride it the stroller like a normal child...no, no, that was too boring! So instead he rode the majority of the ride in the basket underneath the stroller. He was happy as a clam just to sit in that crunched little space. He thought it was just hilarious to ride there. What a silly child!

Hotel Transylvania :-)

We did it! We took Beau to his first movie at the movie theater. And I am proud (and surprised) to say that he did really good! We got him "the works", popcorn, candy, etc, and got him all settled in his little booster seat. Oh my goodness, he was sooo cute!! He got a little restless a couple of times throughout the movie and spent some time going between our laps. But overall he did so great! We did end up taking him out for about the last 10 min just because he was done with the sitting still business! So I feel it's safe to say that some point again in the future we will be going to the movies as a family again!!!

Show & Tell Link Up ~ When I was 17

I'm linking up with Becky again over at FromMrstoMama for her Show & Tell series! I missed last weeks link up, but who's really gonna tell, right??  This one looks like a fun one, so here goes!

1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked, and what you were usually up to on the weekends?
When I was 17, I drove a 2003 purple VW Beetle. Ah it was the best car ever!  It was a turbo deisel, and it got like 50 miles to the gallon.  Sadly, I totalled her in 2008 the week after my college graduation :-(  But I was able to walk away without even a scratch, so she did her job to keep me safe.  Ah, I miss her!  I lived in a very small town that had very minimal employment opportunity, so I didn't have a real job.  I would work a little at the little grocery store in town and on Saturday's I would fill in for the antique/gift shop in town when the manager was out of town. Umm, my weekends were pretty uneventful for the most part.  I wasn't a big partier, and I didn't ever (and still don't today really...) see the appeal of "cruising" around.  So unless my friends to go to the movies (which was a 45min drive for us) or go shopping or something like that, I pretty much stayed home with the family.  I was a pretty big nerd in highschool, and still am today, so I also spent some Saturday's at UIL academic competitions.  I actually enjoyed them quite a bit :-) as I said, NERD!

2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.
Me and my two cousins at the state UIL competition

3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."
Well, when I was 17, I was in my senior year, and I had always wanted to be an architect or some type of engineer.  I don't really know when my mind changed, but at some point I changed my mind to being an accountant.  My mom did bookkeeping work all my life growing up, so I had been around it and math just came easily to me, so it seemed like a good choice.  Plus, that job is alot more universal (location wise) than an architect or engineer.

4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
Umm, well, considering I had only had one boyfriend before I was 17, I wouldn't really say I had a type.  I was not a big dater...or dater at all really.  There were only about 60-70 people in my highschool, pretty much all of which I had gone to school with since kindergarten.  That doesn't really make much of a dating pool, lol!  My one boyfriend was an out-of-towner needless to say.  But, when I was 17, the summer before my senior year, I met my then boyfriend, and now husband.  We dated long distance all through my senior year, and then were reunited when I went off the college.

5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
For the most part, I would have to say yes.  I always knew that I wanted to be a young mom.  I didn't really have a set plan, but I just didn't want to have my first child in my 30's.  I would say that it worked out pretty good.  I got married young at 19, and finished up college, worked for a few years and then had the ability/opportunity to be able to stay home with my little man.  Doesn't get much better than that!

Texas Red's Festival

This past weekend we went to a local steak and grape festival here in town. It was a fun way to spend our day! We got some excellent carnival food including a giant corny dog and sausage on a stick, and of course you cant forget the cotton candy! Yummy!!!

There were a lot of activities going on! We got to watch some grape stomping competitions, that was a first for all of us, it looked pretty funny! They had arts and crafts vendors, kids zone, and an artist showcase. We got to watch a live pottery demonstration, something I've always wanted to do.

Beau got to jump in a bounce house in the kids zone, and of course he loved that! But the coolest part was the reptile exhibit! They had several snakes we could touch, and even a little one that they let you hold by yourself if you wanted. Beau wasn't really scared to touch the snakes, but he wasn't too sure about holding it! They also had a giant tortoise we could pet.

Overall, it was a great Saturday!! Even if we got rained on a little bit, it actually felt nice and cooled everything off. I'm looking forward to more things like this this to check out around our new town!

Life lately

So life lately has been pretty much the same. Since daddy still isn't having to go into work yet, we have been going on lots of walks and bike rides. We love to all ride our bikes down to the park close to our house. :-) beau loves to be outside, and with the weather being a little cooler we are able to enjoy the outdoors so much more.

Ready for a walk with our football in hand

Chowing down on some ice cream (since he finally ate all of his supper, for once, and was allowed some ice cream)!

While the ice cream got us all hyped up...we were running and fell down hard!  It was so terrible looking! But he only cried for about a minute, and then he was back to 100mph!

Cowboy weekend!!

Here it is Friday and we're headed into another weekend, and I am just now getting time to sit down and write about last weekend!  We had an extended weekend with lots of activities jam packed into it.  Saturday we headed out to Austin to drop Kolby off at his brother's house to hang out for the day while I went to benefit for my cousin's little baby girl that was born with extensive medical problems.  I picked up my MIL in Austin and headed on down to San Antonio for the benefit.  I also got to meet up with my mom, SIL, and neice and nephew at the benefit!  It was an awesome event with a bounce house, face painting, and amazing food, and they raised over $50,000 for the family for medical expenses!  Beau loved the bounce house even if he got stomped on by all the bigger kids, he didn't care, and we would have to drag him out screaming!  We didn't even attempt the face painting as Beau would not sit still for a second all day unless he was strapped into the stroller.
Eating gushers at 9am, because "there are no rules on  a roadtrip" according to my husband

Sunday morning we headed out of Austin up to Dallas.  Every year, my husband and his brothers and dad go to a  cowboys game at Cowboy's Stadium.  Every year, they try to get tickets closer and closer to the field.  Silly boys and their sports.  This was the first year that we no longer live in DFW, so we had to travel up and make it into a weekend trip.  We stayed with Kolby's aunt, and her house is by no means baby proof, LOL! I feel like Beau is going to break everything! Good thing Aunt Patty loves us!  Sunday afternoon all the guys went to a sports bar to watch all the Sunday afternoon football games at the sports bar.  So Beau and I headed back to our old neighborhood and got to visit with his girlfriend and our friends!  It was just like old times, and it made me miss them :-).  Beau and Zoey are just so cute together.  They just crack us up the whole time with their playing!
Don't these two look like trouble waiting to happen?!
Back to looking like angels!
Monday was such a gorgeous day, we just couldn't spend the day inside.  We spent a good bit of the day at the park across the street from the house.  We fed the ducks (Beau tried to chase them a little), threw the football/disc golf disc around, and played on the playground.  All the guys left out about 4pm so they could be at the stadium when the gates opened and they could have time to look around.  Patty, me, and Beau went and had supper with an old work friend of mine, and then it worked out that my highschool girlfriend that lives in Dallas was free for the night, so her and her family came over and hung out for a bit!  Very fun weekend! And now for picture overload!!

Trying out his new bubble gun! He loves it!
 Feeding the ducks
 Playing at the park

 Where's Daddy??
 There he is!!!
 Workin' on his fitness
Getting braver! Going down head first :-)
 Chasing all the squirrels
All the boys at the park
Rockin' his cowboy gear!

Who replaced my baby with this big boy?!?!

Tuesday, we headed out and made it home safely.  I have spent the rest of the week trying to catch up from the weekend :-)

Show and Tell~Link Up

Today I am linking up with FromMrstoMama for her Show and Tell Series! This is my first time so here goes nothing!

1. Tell us about your 5 favorite memories in your life.
My #1 favorite memory would have to be the birth of my son!
My #2 is my wedding day (the whole day)

My #3 would have to be graduating from college! I was/am so proud of myself and the hard work I put into my college studies. (I regret that black nail polish looking back...I thought it was cool then!)
My #4 I am combining two memories together and those are when we got our two poochies! They are two years apart, so we didn't get them at the same time...but I'm counting it as one memory :-)

And my #5 memory would have to be our "honeymoon" cruise!  We didn't go on an actual honeymoon since we were young and basically poor at the time.  We got married on Saturday and Kolby went back to work and I started my fall semester of college the following Monday, super exciting stuff.  So we went on a cruise almost 3 years later and counted that as our honeymoon!!

2. Show us 3 of your favorite beauty products.
I am not a big beauty product person, I just fail completely in that department!  I do wear a little bit of makeup when I remember to...so I will do my best on this one! These are my go to things, if I do nothing else, I always try to wear eyeshadow, mascara, and have a nice manicure!

3. Tell us what your favorite TV shows are to watch.

And my guity pleasure...yeah, I know, I'm a loser! LOL

4. Show us 2 of your favorite pictures.
going snorkeling on our cruise in Jamaica
my little dinky family at Beau's 1st birthday

5. Tell us your favorite things to do during "me time."
If I had all the me time in the world, I would probably be a shopaholic.  I would also want an endless money supply for my shopping habit, but neither of those things will be happening anytime soon, so no worries there!  When I get some me time, I love to do crafts, browse Pinterest for millions of crafts I will probably never do, but wish I could.  I love pictures, and I would love to know more about photography.  I am also a TV bum if I get free time...guilty I know!
