Week 12 Survey!!!!

Baby's now the size of a plum!!!!

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be.

Week 11 Survey!!!

Baby's now the size of a lime!

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. It's hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under their gums, and some of their bones are beginning to harden.

They're already busy kicking and stretching, and their tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as their body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that their diaphragm is forming.

Week 9 Survey!!!!

Baby's now the size of a green olive!

Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

1st Prenatal Appointment

Today was our first prenatal appointment!!! I'm officially 8 weeks and 1 day today! Our appointment was at 2:30 this afternoon, I was supposed to meet with my OB who I've never met because I am having to get a new Dr. But about 30 minutes before my appointment they called and said that she was having to go to perform an emergency surgery and wouldn't be able to meet with me, that I could either see the Nurse Practioner or I could reschedule. Since Kolby had already changed his work schedule so he could come to the appointment, we opted to keep our appointment and see the Nurse Practioner.

We were brought back pretty quickly for our ultrasound. That was of course the most exciting part of the whole appointment!!! We got to see our little baby on the u/s screen...and there it was in all it's glory! It looked like a little bean! We could see the heart beating on the screen, it looked like a little flickering pen dot, SOOO small! We got to listen to the heart beat for all of about 2 seconds...the lasy seemed to be rushing us by that point which I didn't really appreciate, but we got to listen to it all the same. You should have seen the smile on Kolby's face when the baby came on the screen, he is so excited about the baby!

The baby measured exactly 8 weeks, so only 1 day behind what we were thinking which they said was great! The heart beat was 172 beats per minute (bpm) which they said was really fast and strong! So overall we got a great ultrasound report, which we were thrilled with!!!

We were then sent back to the waiting room to wait for our regular prenatal appointment. We sat out there for what seemed like forever...but finally they called us back! they took my weight and blood pressure, as well as me giving a urine sample.

Basically, my first prenatal appointment consisted of an annual gynocology exams and Q&A sessions. She asked us some questions and we were able to ask ours. We did find out that since I am on the blood thinner that we will have a scheduled delivery because they will have me be off of the blood thinner for at least 24 hrs prior to delivery. So I will either have a scheduled C-section or an induction, I guess we'll find that out down the road.

So overall we got two big thumbs up from our first prenatal appointment!!!!!! So YAY, we are so excited to keep on this journey and hope that things keep going like they have been!!!

BIG NEWS!!!

So one reason that I have been a bad blogger is because we have been a little preoccupied....we have lots of changes going on in our little household! SOOOOO....

As of April 13, 2010, we learned via a home test that

WE ARE PREGNANT!!!!

Breakthrough Jump Pictures, Images and Photos

We are over the moon excited and nervous and excited...!!!! We have been trying for about 9 months now and we were starting to think that we would need to seek assistance. I had gone to a couple of monitoring appointments with my gynecologist, and we had learned that everything they had tested was working correct/normally. So we were beyond excited to learn that we had gotten pregnant on our own!!

I was about a week beyond my normal cycle starting date and decided (after Kolby had insisted I "just do it, that way we know") to test. So I took a home pregnancy test and it looked like a positive to me! Kolby was at work, so I called him and told him and he said "Test Again!!!" We weren't sure to believe it or not....

Immediately I started googling pictures of positive pregnancy tests to see if mine looked like them to make sure I wasn't crazy and sure enough I wasn't! I took another one a little while later and it came up positive again! I, of course, called Kolby to report the results!!

The next day after Kolby had gotten home we called our parents to tell them the news! My mom just cried! haha! I knew she would!

That day after work, I went out and got a box of digital HPTs and came home and took one, and sure enough, there was that word...PREGNANT!!!

Here is the finished count of HPTs!!! All +positive!

So that's our news!!! I look forward to keeping yall all updated on the whole journey!!!!

What Moe and IDK say about their Dad!

I saw this on the main page of MSN. What'd you think, does it describe Kolby???

Bulldog

A bulldog man is usually a meat-and-potatoes, football-every-Sunday kind of guy. He’s also the kind of guy who may let his underbite-baring, kinda-funny-looking dog grab Cheetos straight from his mouth. One might find that a bit gross — or totally endearing.

Summer has arrived!

We got the girls their kiddie pool for the summer!!! They are so happy to have the pool to play in! This is the official debut to summer!
