~OB Appt~

I had my 20 week appointment with my OB yesterday. Somewhere along the way, my weeks have gotten thrown off a bit so I'm actually 21 weeks, almost 22, but oh well! The appointment went well. Short and sweet, and we got another good report! Just the way we like them. I've gained another 6 pounds from my last appointment putting me weighing in at a whopping 131 lbs! Up 18 lbs total, so I'm about half way to the weight gain goal! My BP was 110/62, so that was all good, too. I asked my questions and the important ones are answered below:
  • Will I have to have a C-section or can I try for a natural delivery? Since the only thing causing the scheduled delivery in the first place is the fact that I'm on blood thinner, we are aiming for a natural delivery, I will only have a C-section if complications arise prohibiting me from the natural delivery.
  • When will the induction take place? Dr. K said that she usually plans inductions for 38-39 weeks. By 38 weeks the baby is fully matured, as well as his lungs being fully mature. She said that is the best time to try for, since usually I won't be going into labor at that point on my own yet either. That week is Nov. 28-Dec. 4. Once we get closer, we will pick a day that fits her hospital rotation and that the hospital can accomodate us.
  • Last date of travel? My cut off date for travel is 36 weeks. I will be 36 full weeks on November 14, so from then on, I'm home/work bound only!

Otherwise, my questions were pretty trivial minor details for my own curiosity. But those were the main ones, and I'm pretty satisfied with the answers. The planner in me wants to go ahead and set the induction date, but I'm trying to learn patience! I got to hear the baby's heartbeat, again, still going good with a beat of 145 bpm! Looking good! I go to the specialist on August 17th, and I can't wait to see our little man again! He's been kicking up a storm this week!
